The Cisco CCNA network associate certification validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN. This new curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills. This new curriculum also includes (but is not limited to) the use of these protocols: IP, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, Routing Information Protocol Version 2 (RIPv2),VLANs, Ethernet, access control lists (ACLs)

Cisco’s CCNA is one of the most important and sought-after certification. You have two options with this important certification.

You can take the 640-802 CCNA exam or the 640-822 ICND1 and the 640-816 ICND2 exam. Which option should you pursue? That largely depends on your ability as a network engineer and your testing ability. If you split up your CCNA efforts into the two tests you will have will have less information to deal with per exam. But, the thought of taking two certification tests instead of one doesn’t sound appealing to me. Most of my colleagues take the 640-802 exam.

I would recommend getting your CCNA first and then OS specific certifications such as the Microsoft Certified Professional or MCSE. It is more important to understand networking fundamentals. They will be relevant regardless if you work in a Linux, Unix or Microsoft environment.

If you are looking for training, I would strongly recommend Train Signal. Their CCNA Video course is less the 200 dollars and is tought by Chris Bryant a CCIE. Yes, that is correct, you get to learn from a CCIE watching him manage and configure routers on an actual network. With 25 hours of video you are paying less than 4 dollars an hour for training. If you want go ahead and pay 2500 for a boot camp that is your choice, but make sure you at least know the instructor’s background.

Once you have the necessary fundamentals to do the job it may be a good idea to find some reputable CCNA practice test or brain dumps to help ensure that you will pass.

This is a tough certification, but you can do this. Now is the time for you to have a great career and to achieve the level of success that can change your life.

Here are the books I would recommend for your CCNA:

CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide: Exam 640-802

I would recommend the following practice tests. They offer explanations and stand behind their product.

CCNA Practice tests

Brain dumps are helpful, but look for quality dumps. There is a lot of junk out there.
